Facebook marketing for franchise brands

A tidy page for every location and local campaigns steered centrally by head office.

By Gijs Bodenstaff · Updated:

Facebook marketing for franchise brands is mainly local marketing: an up-to-date page per location and ads that only people nearby see. According to the National Social Media Research 2026, Facebook use in the Netherlands is stable. We set out what happens centrally and what happens locally, clean up old pages and run campaigns per location.

What role does Facebook still play for franchise chains?

Facebook is no longer growing fast, but it has not disappeared either. For chains it remains useful for three reasons. Local groups and events are still active there. Customers use a Facebook page to check opening hours or ask a question. And the ads run through the same system as Instagram, with precise targeting by postcode and radius.

For many franchise brands, the problem is not the platform but the clutter around it: pages from departed franchisees, duplicate pages per location and addresses that are no longer correct. That is where we start.

Who handles what on Facebook: head office or the location?

A fixed division of tasks prevents everyone doing everything or nobody doing anything. The brand story, house style, advertising budget and recruitment sit centrally. Local promotions, replies, photos and the local audience sit with the location, with us as a safety net.

How do you clean up locations' Facebook pages?

We start with an inventory of all pages that exist about your franchise brand. We do this partly with AI, which searches for variants of the brand name and place names and flags inconsistent addresses. A specialist assesses every finding.

Duplicate and orphaned pages

Pages from former franchisees or duplicate pages per location confuse customers. We request admin access, merge pages where possible and have the rest removed.

One structure for all pages

Every location page gets the same layout: a name following a fixed rule, the correct address, opening hours, a link to the location's own page on the site and a button to get in touch. We correct any details that differ from the Google Business Profile straight away.

Recommendations and comments

Customers leave verdicts on Facebook too. We include those in review management for multi-location brands, so every location replies equally fast everywhere.

How do local Facebook campaigns per location work?

Local campaigns are the reason many chains keep Facebook. They run through Meta Ads, together with Instagram. Our approach in four steps:

  1. Every quarter, head office chooses two or three campaign themes.
  2. For each theme we create a set of ads with room for the place name and a local photo.
  3. For each location we set a radius or postcode area, so budget does not leak across the boundary of another location.
  4. Results appear per location in the dashboard and budget shifts to where it delivers most.

Fictional worked example: Facebook for 30 locations

A fictional franchise brand with 30 locations chooses the Growth package and also runs local campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. The advertising budget per location is chosen fictionally.

Which Facebook figures matter for a chain?

Page likes say little about turnover. We track figures that tell you something about local contact and visits. They appear as results you can measure per branch in your dashboard.

Questions about Facebook for locations

Is Facebook still worthwhile for a franchise chain in 2026?
Yes, especially locally. According to the National Social Media Research 2026, usage is stable. Customers check opening hours there, ask questions and follow local events. Facebook ads also run through the same system as Instagram, with targeting by postcode. For brand reach among younger audiences we tend to use Instagram or TikTok instead.
Does every location need its own Facebook page?
For franchise brands with physical locations usually yes, because customers search locally and ask local questions. It is important that every page has the same layout, shows correct details and is owned by head office. Without physical customer contact, one brand page with local ads can be enough. We decide that in the pilot.
What do you do with old Facebook pages of departed franchisees?
We request admin access via the location or via Meta, merge pages where possible and have pages that are no longer needed removed. That way customers no longer see outdated addresses or phone numbers. To prevent it, we agree that head office is always the main admin of every location page.
How do you target a Facebook ad at one location?
In Meta Ads we set a radius or a set of postcodes around the location. The ad includes the place name and, where possible, a photo from that location. That way each location only pays for people in its own area and the budget does not leak into another location's area.
Who pays for local Facebook ads in a chain?
That is agreed within the franchise brand. Often a fixed share comes from head office's marketing fund and a location can add its own budget. The advertising budget always goes directly to Meta. In the dashboard you can see per location what was spent and what it delivered.
Can head office prepare Facebook posts for all locations?
Yes. Every month we create a set of posts in the house style with room for the place name and a local photo. AI produces a draft version for each location with the correct details; an editor checks it. The location can use the post as it is or add its own news, such as a local event.
How quickly should a location reply to Facebook messages?
Preferably the same day. A message with a question often comes from someone who is about to drop by or make a booking. We supply standard answers for frequently asked questions and measure the response time per location. If a location is consistently slow to reply, you see it in the dashboard and we agree a solution.
Which Facebook figures do I see per location?
You see the cost per local result, the reach within the location's own area, the number of messages with a question, sign-ups for local events and whether the page details match the Google Business Profile. That lets you compare locations and see where budget or attention is needed.
Do Facebook groups work for franchise brands?
Local groups can be useful, for example a neighbourhood group in which a location shares an event, if the group's rules allow it. We rarely recommend setting up a separate group per location, because it takes a lot of management. Among franchisees, however, a private group can be handy for internal communication.
What does Facebook management cost for a chain with many locations?
Facebook management and local campaigns get a fixed monthly price on quotation, depending on the number of locations. Strategy, advice and training cost €65 per hour with a fixed quote in advance. You pay the advertising budget directly to Meta. The fixed package prices per location apply to Google Business Profiles and reviews.
